The development site is located in East Kilbride Village and was designated by the District Council for industrial and business use. A single storey building of 6500 sq ft divided into individual units was identified as appropriate for local business needs.
The structure was of steel portal frame construction supported on a semi-rigid raft foundation. Ground investigations had revealed the presence of variable fill across the site and vibro compaction was identified as the most cost effective solution to improve the bearing characteristics of the soils.
