R & W Scott, Carluke – Value: £1.3m (Client: R & W Scott/Architect: Moidart)

The extension to the existing jam factory is an 11m high single storey steel frame building over the storage area and internal mezzanine floors to accommodate offices.  The structural frame comprises steel columns around the building perimeter with an internal line of columns to support the 32m long steel roof trusses.  The structural frame is supported on a combination of reinforced concrete ground beams and pad foundations.  The ground bearing concrete slab is designed to accommodate loading from forklift trucks and high bay racking systems.
